I watched the movie Equilibrium on Thursday, and it was very cool and thought-provoking and all, the concept being that of a futuristic world where peace is maintained through the use of drugs that completely suppress human emotions. Pretty neat on its own.

But the part that will stay with me from that movie is the scene where the main character, played by Christian Bale, is standing in a hidden room holding a snowglobe containing the Eiffel Tower. He's off the emotion-suppressing drugs for the first time in his life, and when music starts to play from a phonograph across the room, he drops the snowglobe, which smashes on the floor.

For some reason I'm being vaguely haunted by that scene: the room, the snowglobe, the music; the way he starts crying. I think it's going to be twisted into my own personal understanding of, I don't know, life, the universe and everything. Huh.
