The last two weeks have been extremely interesting, to say the least.
Ottawa was cold but full of warm rooms and people. Nat's res room has high ceilings, a kitchenette and a double bed, and I seriously considered moving in and sleeping on her kitchen floor. Friday night was good times: sitting on the floor drinking beer and flipping caps, stolen(but not really) cookies at the hotel, trips to the grocery store and first-time liquor buying at the LCBO, drunk poker with close friends.
Saturday had an aborted attempt at shopping, and hangover relief in the form of greasy pizza. The pizza was at the same place we went to the last time I was in Ottawa, which provided me with some weird-ass déjà vu. The four of us took the bus to the big movie theater to watch Harry Potter, which was excellent. Pretty people, slashy moments, scary Voldemort: I like. Didn't entirely appreciate the choice of cut scenes, (spoiler) especially the infirmary scene where Fudge denies Voldemort's return. That's a fairly key part of the next story to leave out, but I can live with it.
Saturday night we went out to meet Nat's boyfriend and his friends at a sports bar in Hull. We moved on from the bar to Peter's apartment, which involved a trek down the side of highway into the residential streets of Hull. Bad luck for MF, who was wearing heels and a leather jacket... Brrr.
Cold winter night, good beer, romance in the air in the form of knock-down drag-out snow fights? Oh yeah. So that led to certain interesting developments that night, mostly in the form of making out in a kitchen, among other places. Despite the large amounts of beer we'd both consumed, this turned out to be more than a random hook-up, which is cool. We're keeping in touch (so does that mean I have a kinda-sorta boyfriend? Not sure.) Us girls went home after Nat's boyfriend started to feel the negative effects of the beer, and apparently I pretty much passed out horizontally on the hotel room bed, beyond all awakening. This is sad, because it means that I missed the later food delivery that night.
Liz and MF left Sunday afternoon, although we managed to squeeze in a wee bit of shopping before they did. I bought a shiny new hat, multi-coloured with earflaps, which I will soon be wearing proudly around campus. After they left, Nat and I went back to her place, where we lazed around in her room until the boys showed up. Then we lazed around some more, with less space.
My final week of classes was fairly stressful, but could have been worse. Finishing a late essay on Friday afternoon as the minutes ticked toward the final deadline definitely sucked, but was also pretty much my own fault. Especially since I went out Thursday night with Margot and K to a bar for Karaoke night, and drank three rum and cokes and a gin and tonic. My housemate J was there too with the band people, and we had a blast. Though we didn't actually end up singing, there are plans to do so this coming Thursday. The rest of the weekend was also cool, involving arcades, late-night grocery shopping, Aeon Flux and free chips and salsa. Yay for the period between classes and exams! My exams don't start until next week so I'm pretty much taking this week to relax. Well, in between studying and working on my take-home exam, that is...
