Wow, does anyone else feel like Canada was feeling all sulky after the US election media frenzy kinda drowned out our election, and this is the politicians' way of going, "See! OUR POLITICS ARE EXCITING TOO!!!1!"

No? Just me? Okay. Anyway, I'm sure that whole economic recession thing can just, you know, wait six weeks. No harm done!

Honestly, the whole situation is ridiculous. Harper KNEW he was going to get defeated, so instead of taking his defeat honourably, he's all, "I don't care! I'm going to leave Canada essentially WITHOUT a government for, oh, say, I don't know...TWO MONTHS! And while the rest of the world keeps trying to fix the economy, I'll just sit over here, and brag about how my government is going to table a budget SO QUICKLY." Pfft. Whatever. He totally brought this on himself with that economic plan.

Yeah, Harper made several shit political moves, first by trying to sneak in that reform into his plan that would have screwed over ALL the other parties financially, and then by being all, "Go ahead, call a no-confidence vote then!" And then they called his bluff, and he was like, "Shit. You know what? I'm calling a time out." I don't think the Governor General should have gone along with it, although I'm not sure how much of a choice she really had.
