Omg, I can't believe it took me this long to find your page to comment.

This vid rocks. You re-frame so many critical (and seemingly inconsequential, but not really) moments from S3 to somehow capture exactly how I feel going into S4 - hopeful and scared and sad and still in love. I love how you shift the feeling of the chorus - esp. the "if I lay here" bits - over the course of the vid until by the end I have a completely different understanding of the same clip. In other words, I like how you're smarter than me.

Shall we call it OT6? ^_^

ha! i watched this just shortly after you finished it, and i really liked it! but again, since i really don't know much about SGA, i'm not in a great position to comment, but i liked it, and i thought everything fit together well. god, i suck at making good comments.

*blushes* Thank you! OT6 would be a great way to describe this video, actually, although I'd probably scare people away if I actually labeled it as such, eh?

Heh, well, if you liked it even if you didn't know what was going on, that must mean something good, right? :)

Heh. We'll keep it our little secret.

What made you decide on that particular song, if you don't mind my asking?

From: [identity profile] ceitie.livejournal.com

My roommates were watching Grey's Anatomy DVDs and got me hooked on the show, so I downloaded the soundtracks. I'd never actually seen the Grey's ep that the song was in though, so I associated it with SGA instead, as I am wont to do.

I have a thing for created families, and I got all excited when they were emphasizing that aspect in season 3. I love the song, and it really felt like John to me, to the way he sees Atlantis and his family there. Especially the line about needing grace, that always felt so very John and Teyla to me. But I think it was the scene from Inferno, of the team walking through the field in the sunlight, that made me connect the song and Atlantis in my head.

Oh, and that walking scene for the team, it was perfect. But I think you're thinking of the one from "Sanctuary"? Or perhaps "Vengeance"? I think you put them both in there (where they definitely belong).

I, too, loved S3's emphasis on family. Without certain externally imposed factors, it would have been my favorite season by far.

That's neat that you just heard the song and felt its connection to John. The vid really showed that, let his relationships (or your view of them) come through with remarkable clarity. I'm always impressed when people manage that, because John is very opaque to me most of the time.

Whoops, yep, I totally meant 'Vengeance', not 'Inferno'.

What were the externally imposed factors that you didn't like?

I actually like writing from John's POV even though his character is a little opaque, or maybe because of it, because who's to say whether I'm interpreting him correctly or not, right? *g* Also, I have a soft spot for characters who seem cool and together, but really, not so much. I love Rodney and Teyla too, but I think John's my favorite.

Externally imposed, as in *spoiler* in Sunday and *spoiler* in First Strike (I know you've seen them, but I do try to be polite to other folks), plus Lucius. Without those three things, I would have loved S3 wholly and unreservedly and probably framed it to put on the wall. But no season of television is ever perfect.

I see your point about writing for John. I love Teyla's pov for similar reasons, though she can be difficult to express at times.

From: [identity profile] ceitie.livejournal.com

Oh God, Lucius. I could stomach Irrestible, 'cause it had its cute and funny moments, and at least Lucius was recognized as a villain, even if not a very serious one. But the second episode? Horrible, for so many, many reasons.

The thing with Teyla is that I'm never sure how alien to make her, the line between establishing that her POV is very different from that of the Earthers, without just throwing in random quirks for the hell of it.

downloaded the vid, and I really liked it, very melancholy.

Came over from [livejournal.com profile] sga_genderfuck, and I just wanted to say that this is an awsome vid. I love the way you matched the images to the lyrics. Very heartfelt. Thank you for sharing this.

Oh, oh WOW. Listen, I don't get weepy at SGA stuff often, but this vid totally made me tear up, because: yes. This is exactly, exactly how I view season three, as a story about these four emotionally-retarded dorks (and some of their friends) who love each other just so much. It's like Season 3: the good parts version, only obviously with more artistry and skillful manipulation of my tear ducts than that phrase would imply.

uh, I loved it! yay!

Thank you very much! Yes, Season 3 was awesome because it was filled with so much dorky love. And also whales. *g*

Fabulous vid. It shows how much Sheppard cares for his team and broader Atlantis family and that makes me a very happy camper. I really liked how the clips matched the lyrics (Sheppard cutting Landry off, the flashbacks to Sheppard's past, etc.). Very nice. :)

Thank you! It's cool when other people feel the team and Atlantis love too. :D
